England's Lake District is famous for beautiful scenery and summer weekend crowds. We enjoyed the scenery and avoided the crowds by visiting the west coast of the District. In addition to touring Muncaster Castle, we enjoyed the World Owl Center, one of the largest collections of owls in existence. By staying at Muncaster Castle in the renovated stable block we were able to roam the lovely grounds in the evening and early morning before the tourists arrived. |
