On the coast of Wales, we visited the Center for Alternative Technology. The water-powered cliff railway can take 14 adults at a time up (or down) the 200 foot incline. "It operates on the principle of 'water-balancing'. The two carriages are connected by cable via a winding-drum at the top; water is run into a tank beneath the upper carriage until it is just heavier than the lower carriage and its passengers; then the parking brakes are released and gravity does the rest." The insert photo shows the water being released from the car at the bottom.
The next 3 photos show Barmouth, where we relaxed and walked among the cliffs behind the town.
The last 3 photos show our visit to Harlech Castle where we toured the castle and enjoyed a nice lunch.

The last page of our tour includes links to some of the places we visited and stayed.
Thanks for joining us and sharing in our travels!
